Tragedy at Boston:
Cynthia Lucero, 28, collapsed and died from unknown causes at the Boston Marathon on Monday. Lucero, one of 150 runners raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, had just two weeks earlier received her doctorate from the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology and, in a tragic irony, her dissertation topic had been how marathons help runners grieve for lost ones. The MSPP will be accepting donations on behalf of the Lucero family; for further information call 617-325-3322.This story appeared in Women's Running on April 22, 2002.
